On Farms Testing

Process for bringing together the knowledge and research capacities of the local farming communities with that of the commercial scientific institutions in an interactive way. The process where farmer investigates, measures, and studies in collaboration with researchers.

Agricultural technologies may be highly appropriate in one region but completely useless in another. Thus adaptation is a must. Refinement is a continuous process in the wake of new options and changing problems Scientific recommendation and ITK on their own fail to provide long lasting solutions, thus necessitating their integration. Farmers have been experimenting on their own and hence OFT standardizes the existing process.

On-farm experiments are conducted in the fields of representative farmers and to examine a small number of experimental variables. The experimental variables in an on-farm experiment may represent exploratory factors possible solutions, or some combination of the two. Non experimental variables are usually set at the level of representative farmer management.
